Fighting For Our Faith Is Faith

As I hand out favorite people awards, which I do often, mostly to comedians and homeless people who make me laugh and feel better about what's going on in my life at the moment, there is a neighbor of mine who is up to bat.  I honestly love this woman.  She is hysterical and intelligent.  This week she spoke to a crowd of people about wrestling with faith.  Losing faith, fighting to get it back.  This is a common theme within my family.  The struggle.  The hope.  It's a real thing and a good thing.  When people I love are so full of anger toward God, full of question and confusion, searching for truth and hope and life to make sense, I relate.  This is me.  We can give up on God and become indifferent, or we can trudge through the pain and fight.  There is life and light in the fight.

Here is her short message.  She spoke this week at Life Austin Church.  Take a listen, and keep fighting for your faith.

I want life to be happy and I hope all of the time. I find peace in the Lord and sanity in laughter. Life is ridiculous so much of the time and Chris Farley living in a Van down by the river  helps to keep me grounded.

Romans 5:3 says, "We can rejoice too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.  And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.  And this hope will not lead to disappointment."
